Motorbike insurance from eBike Insurance
What you take Touring/Motocamping is very much a personal thing; some folk pack all their worldly possessions while some take no more than a toothbrush. Most of us fall somewhere in between the two.

There are of course some determining factors to consider.
· Length of Trip
· Type of Motorcycle
· The Place your visiting

Whether its only a one night stop over or maybe a 6 month trip most of us take the essentials Tent, Sleeping Bag, Cooking Equipment, etc. Here’s some of the gear that MotoBOTC crew have being using over the last few years and have found to be well up to the job of Touring/Motocamping.

Mountain Hardwear Muir Trail Tent www.mountainhardwear.com/

Trail tent
This is a lightweight tent with a very good pack size that has not let us down what ever the weather has had to offer. It has seen gloriously hot weather and some very miserable conditions but has always stayed dry and leaks free; it also has excellent ventilation when the weather is hot. For some it would be far to small, claustrophobic even? We like to call it cosy and snug. This does have its downside as there is not a lot of room so, getting in and out off your bike gear, can be a bit like playing Twister. There is enough room for two panniers and our bike gear, with enough room Left for a good nights sleep.

Khyham McKinley (touring)

Khyham tent

If you would like more room to move or store things. Then we can recommend this Khyham 'McKinley; tent. It is quick to erect due to its rapidex pole system. If the weather is bad (it has been known) and you have friends with a 'very cosy tent' then there is enough room to invite them in to shelter, talk and play jenga! It isn't particularly small but we have no problems with it strapped across a rear rack.

Ajungilak Kompakt Sleeping Bags www.ajungilak.no/

sleeping bag
With a good light and compact pack size these have given good warmth and are comfortable, perhaps we find them a little to heavy for Southern European Touring in the Summer, but excellent for Northern Europe.

MSR Whisperlite Internationale Stove and MSR Classic Alpine Cookset www.msrcorp.com/home.asp

msr cookerpan set
With this stove and cookset we’ve made roadside brews and good hearty campsite tucker. The stove gives excellent heat and is very compact and light, the separate fuel bottle is good shape for packing and leak free. The burner packs neatly into the cookset, which is Stainless Steel and has been very durable. It has a Wind Shield that is very effective and all in all this combination has kept us in hot drinks and good food on many a trip.

Other Equipment we have found to be up to the job is Therm-a-rest Sleeping Mat www.cascadedesign.com/thermarest/ this light if a little bulky when packed mat is comfortable and if used with the Easy Chair kit is very versatile. If you are looking for a small, compact and bright light for your tent? Then take a look at this LED torch, it gives excellent light and with its rotating clip can be attached anywhere you want inside your tent.

You have got to carry your gear in something, this can be anything from a plastic bin bag to a state of the art back box with built in pillion back rest, we have found that the Ortlieb P350 Dry Bag www.ortlieb.de is a good easy to pack bag that is 100% waterproof and when packed fits well on to our rear carriers.
